August Themed Show
Call for Submissions: "August Light" — A Community-Themed Art Exhibit
Queen City Art invites local artists to submit work for "August Light," a juried group exhibition opening in August. This show explores summer’s late glow — the warm shifts in color, the long shadows, quiet heat, and moments of transition that define the month. We welcome interpretations across media: painting, drawing, photography, printmaking, mixed media, sculpture, and installation.
Theme: Capture the mood, memory, and atmosphere of August — from sunlit afternoons and twilight gatherings to migratory signs and the first hints of change. Abstract, representational, and experimental pieces are all encouraged.
Eligibility: Open to artists living or working in the region. Works must be original, completed within the last three years, and ready for display.
Submission Guidelines:
Up to 4 entries per artist.
Include title, dimensions, medium, price
Digital image files (JPEG/PNG) optimized for web viewing.
Entry fee: modest processing fee to be listed on the submission form (discounted for members)
To submit, prepare images and documentation per the guidelines and watch for the submission link on Queen City Art’s announcements. For questions about eligibility, installation constraints, or accessibility, contact the gallery team.
Share your view of August — evocative, intimate, and luminous — and join a community conversation in light.

Afternoon Reception for “Climate Conversations” Exhibition
Celebrate Earth Day 2024 beautifully and thoughtfully with a visit to Wil Bosbyshell’s Climate Conversations art exhibit.
Bosbyshell manages to make the vast climate challenges we face personal and relevant. His large-scale drawings of trees—the largest is over 6 feet tall--are mesmerizing in the level of detail they provide; and they hang amidst suspended banners that flutter as you walk through them like leaves in a forest.
The exhibit is interactive in several ways, inviting your participation. You can touch the fabric tree hangings as you walk through. You can write a thought from your past and hang it on the memory tree. You can take a tree memory poster home with you.
Opening Reception: April 12, 6-9PM
Afternoon Reception: April 14, 1-5PM
Exhibition on display from April 5, 2024 - April 30, 2024

Opening Reception for William M. Jones III
William is a new artist who's ready to hit the art world by storm! Allow me to share a few things with you, about him. William is a 46 year old father to four boys and one girl. He has been a barber for over thirty years, but always knew how to draw, since grade school. He didn't know that art was his true calling and passion, at that point and time of his life. He always showed his artistic skills by doing creative designs on his customers who always look forward to getting their hair cut by a master barber. Then one day, he decided to pick the pen back up and started drawing again, but that wasn't enough. William wanted to venture into the world of art, on canvas!
He taught himself how to paint on canvas, the same way he taught himself how to cut hair at a very young age. All of this came through countless hours of observation and photographic memory. His style of art is parallel to his style of barbering, very free stylistic and abstract. It also symbolizes his style of living, which is very humble and free. He understands that we have no control over anything outside of ourselves, which is one of the most key factors in life.
William is an active parent in his children's lives, as well as a leader in his environment of employment and community. He realizes we all need help and guidance throughout our lives and advocate for everyone to be able to receive the right guidance. He loves mentoring, as well as being mentored. His YouTube mentor was a key factor in his transitioning to the art world “Ralph Smart at Infinite Water”.
Let’s get ready to enjoy William's work and allow it to move you internally, with a euphoric twist that can be very therapeutic for the soul. He's just having fun and wants to express his happiness to the world!
